KAMP PEKERJA KRISTUS

RE: PLUG

Plugging our work into God's work

1 - 3 SEPT 2017

PUNGGOL RANCH

ABOUT THE CAMP

KARIS

Kamp Pekerja Kristus

This Christian camp is for all Indonesian young professionals who are working in Singapore, who seek to live a more fulfilling life at the workplace. If you think you are one of them, read on…

Not only will this 3-day-and-2-night camp be filled with a good number of seminars and workshops, you’ll also have the opportunity to have a good escape from your usual Singapore weekend routine, hang out with like-minded people, as well as build new friendships/networks!

We’re privileged to be able to present to you our main speaker, Robert J. Banks, a well-respected senior Australian theologian who has spoken and written a lot around the topic of living out theology in the business space.

We also have two Singaporean speakers, Chew Wee (Current president of the Graduates’ Christian Fellowship (GCF) Singapore) and Serene Wee (CEO, Singapore Academy of Law), who will share their closer-to-home stories, from which you can hopefully gain even more invaluable yet practical insights.

Finally, we hope that, by the end of this camp, you will:

  • Be spiritually rejuvenated to overcome the challenges of work,

  • Be equipped with a sound frame of mind for thinking about work, and

  • Be a great testimony of God’s grace at your workplace.

RE: PLUG

Plugging Our Work into God's Work

The committee chose the topic of work because, in Singapore, we all work hard! It is not uncommon to find people who work 50+ hours in a week, even 60+ hours in a busy week. Work is so central to us by virtue of our time spent in it. However, our experiences of work are mixed. To some, work is a great avenue to achieving their aspirations. To some, work is very mundane and boring.

As Christians though, we believe that the lordship of Jesus Christ is over all departments of our lives – our work included! However, we found that many churches don’t necessarily spend adequate time teaching or discussing about work. Therefore, the committee believe that this topic would be of utmost relevance to all of us.

The bible (James 2:26, ESV) tells us that “faith apart from works is dead.” But, how exactly are we supposed to work out our faith, especially in our workplaces? To begin with, is Christian faith even applicable when we do business?

These are some key questions that we will aim to answer in this camp. We strongly believe, though, that one key secret to answering these questions has something to do with our Creator, our understanding of His Master Plan, and our relationship with Him.

It is about time we get serious again thinking about work. It is about time we get back to what the bible has to say about how we shall work. It is about time we plug our work into God’s work.
